Man Lived With Dead Wife’s Corpse in RV for Six Years

Posted on by admin

An Ohio man reportedly lived alongside the body of his dead wife in an RV for six years.

Following his father Robert Rea’s death at 70 in January, John Rea informed the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office that there was a second body on the property, WFMJ 21 reports.

After searching the Reas’ 40-acre farm, authorities spotted an RV behind the barn. The RV contained the corpse of Peggy Rea, who died at 64 in 2017.

John reportedly told police that his father had been living inside the trailer alongside Peggy’s corpse since her death. He also told authorities that his parents were Quakers who wished to be buried at the same time upon their deaths.

According to WFMJ 21, Robert had been caring for his dead wife’s remains, surrounding her body with herbs. She was discovered wrapped in a blanket, “unusually well-preserved.”

An autopsy determined Peggy had been deceased for six years.

“I’ve been doing this for almost 34 years and never seen anything like it. I have never seen a body that has been gone that long and still that intact. We’ve had bodies that have been gone for much, much less time and had next to nothing left,” sheriff Brian McLaughlin told the outlet.

The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating to determine whether or not any charges will be filed.
