Faith Martin’s Adventure to ‘Riverside Equestrian State Park’

Posted on by admin

The weather was amazing this past weekend. We had so much fun exploring on foot and also on horseback.

My best friend of 54 years flew in from Park City Utah and we camped in my new Living Quarter horse trailer. Joan and I grew up riding horses together, but she hasn’t been on a horse for years. She was a “Nervous Nelly” for a while but, she calmed down after a bit settled in, and enjoyed the rides.

Riverside Equestrian State Park is a wonderful place with Corrals for horses and hookups for Living Quarter Horse trailers. Last year I camped in a truck tent and was freezing all night. I still had a great time but made the mental note not to camp too late in the season.

It’s hard to believe it’s mid-October and the weather is still so nice.

I feel so lucky that everything in the trailer worked perfectly. You never know when you buy something used.

My LQ horse trailer is a 2014 Sundowner. It’s well taken care of. It was comfortable enough to sleep in and easy enough to pull and maneuver through the city.

I’m happy with the purchase. The fridge, AC, heat, etc all worked perfectly thank goodness!

Washington has so many wonderful well taken care of State Parks to explore. The West side of the Cascades is filled with wooded areas that are so beautiful. And I’ve camped there many times with horses.

The quick short drive to Spokane is easy though with no passes to cross. The equestrian area is nice with solid corrals, plenty of shade for the horses, and pull-through spaces for horse trailers.

There are also non-equestrian sites for campers a bit further away from the equestrian area.

Because it’s a State Park dogs have to be on a leash. And that isn’t possible when you are riding a horse.

In the National Forest, my dogs can come on the rides with me. But, this time of year there is hunting and I didn’t feel like worrying about that. So the dogs had to stay home this trip. They were not happy about that!
