PASCO, Wash. – The City of Pasco is preparing to implement changes to its irrigation plan for customers, including a rate increase and a new connection fee.
According to Alyssa Warner, Pasco’s communications coordinator, the irrigation rates will see a 17% increase for the years of 2025, 2026 and 2027. The following year will see a 3% increase.
“For most people… it will end up being less than $10 per month during irrigation season,” said Warner.
In addition to the rate increase, new customers connecting to the City of Pasco’s irrigation system will face a one-time connection fee of $1,468. Warner says these changes aim to enhance Pasco’s irrigation district while maintaining low prices.
“So what you’re paying on your bill is going towards the irrigation system,” says Warner. “It’s not paying for anything else in the city.”
Warner explained that the closed system will allow for Pasco customers to continue to have low rates.
“Pasco has currently, I believe, the lowest rates in the region,” said Warner.
Warner says they hope for the proposal to be approved by March, and implemented by the irrigation season in April.
