Ariana Grande Dazzles as Glinda in First ‘Wicked’ Trailer

Although it is Super Bowl Sunday, Ariana Grande and Wicked stole the spotlight.

On Sunday (Feb. 11), the 2024 Super Bowl 58 took place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. During the official telecast, a teaser trailer for the first of two Wicked films aired.

The teaser trailer earned mostly positive reactions from viewers of the hit Broadway musical online. Fans were quick to create memes, gifs and screenshot photos from the brief one minute clip that promised that there will be quite more magic to come in the full official trailer, yet to debut.

Some people couldn’t even recognize Grande in the Glinda costume without her iconic ponytail. Others were overall stunned at the cinematography and eager to see how the film industry will bring the cherished musical to the big screen.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), hundreds of fans shared their and their friends’ and families’ reactions to seeing a sweeping musical being advertised during the biggest NFL game of the year.

Wicked: Part 1 will hit theaters on Nov. 27, just in time for Thanksgiving.

To celebrate the incredible cinematic achievements of the decade, Stacker compiled data on all 1990s movies to come up with a Stacker score—a weighted index split evenly between IMDb and Metacritic scores. To qualify, the film had to have a premiere date between 1990 and 1999, have a Metascore, and have at least 1,000 votes. Ties were broken by Metascore and further ties were broken by votes.
