A would-be Moses Lake car prowler found that citizens don’t take lightly to being interrupted by criminals racing through their business, or trying to hide there.
Would-Be Car Prowler Nailed By Auto Shop Workers
Around 2:30 PM Wednesday, (August 12) Moses Lake Police responded to a call about a man prowling cars in the parking lot at Jack in The Box.
As Officers pulled into the lot, the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Ivan Montejano of Lind, WA, fled on foot and ducked into an industrial business complex near Wheeler and Block. He temporariliy evaded the Officers.
Then Auto Shop Workers Took Matters into Their Own Hands
Police said he initially ran around a fenced lot, chased by the employees, then back into the building into a back room. When Officers came around the fence and into the business, they said Montejano was “gently” being removed from the room and “placed’ on the ground so Officers could get him. (love the words they used!).
His encounter with the workers was not all fun and games as he had to be taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of some minor injuries. After reviewing the case, MLPD investigators said in addition to several charges stemming from this incident, the suspect is likely facing additional charges related to other incidents as well.
