It’s not very often we hear about traffic accidents in which both involved parties ran stop signs.
Deadly Spokane Crash Kills E-Bike Rider
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Department now says a tragic crash early Monday morning was due to both operators running stop signs.
Around 8 AM, SCSO Deputies were called to the intersection of N. Progress Road at E. Valleyway Avenue, in the Spokane Valley.

The intersection in question is what the SCSO calls a “controlled” intersection, a clearly-marked four-way stop, with multiple signs.
A Pickup Collided With an E-Bike Rider
When Deputies arrived, they found an adult male rider lying in the road by their bike, the driver of the GMC Sierra truck remained at the scene. The rider had serious, possibly life-threatening injuries, was transported to an area hospital, but unfortunately did not survive.
The Spokane Valley Traffic Unit investigation showed the truck was headed south on North Progress Road, while the E-Bike was traveling west on Valleyview Ave. Apparently, both operators ran the red light. This resulted in the collision.
Both Operators Possibly Moving at ‘Regular’ Traffic rate of Speed.
Investigators didn’t say what speed both operators were traveling at but if they both ran the stop signs, it’s presumed they were moving fairly ‘fast.’
The E-Bike rider’s name was not released pending notification of relatives. The investigation continues.
