The City of Pasco has officiially appointed Brent Cook as its new Police Chief.
Following a national search, Cook was selected from a total of 16 candidates across the country.
Cook began his career with the Paso Police Department in 1988
Chief Cook has dedicated more than 36 years to serving the City of Pasco, beginning as a Reserve Officer before joining the department full-time in 1990. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of assignments and leadership roles, earning the respect of those he serves alongside and the community he has spent his career protecting.

Chief Cook remains dedicated to leading the department’s committment to professional policing, keeping strong partnerships thriving, and servicing the community.
Cook Served as Deputy Chief From 2019 to 2026
Cook graduated from the Northwest Command College and the FBI National Academy. In March, 2026, Deputy Chief Cook was appointed to serve as Interim Chief of Police. He is the only officer in the department’s history to be recognized as Officer of the Year twice.
Cook will officially be sworn in as Chief of Police on July 27th at the Pasco City Council meeting.
