Fire Danger Soars Across the Tri-Cities

Posted on by admin

We haven’t had a heat streak yet this summer, but it appears to be coming to an end, as the National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the Columbia Basin over the next day or so.

Avoid Outdoor Burning During Tuesday’s Red Flag Warning

It’s going to get dry and breezy over the next few days, which could lead to some hazardous conditions, and anything could spark a wildfire around the Tri-Cities.

The red flag warning takes effect today at 1:00 PM and will remain in effect through 10:00 PM tonight.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly.

A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Over the next few days, after dropping out of the triple digits, we are going to hover in the 90’s most days, and lows at night will be in the high 50’s to low 60’s.

The biggest thing you can do is NO outside burning over the next few days. It would be easy for a fire to get away from you and cause some serious damage.
