5 Million Washington Residents Expected To Travel This Summer

Posted on by admin

This summer, nearly 5 million Washington residents will be traveling. But it’s not going to be long trips across the country for the most part. It’s going to be short day trips or weekends.

Traveling long distances has become more expensive and it’s not just a plane ticket. Yes, I know the price of gas is going to start dropping down, (Sometime) but the price of a lot of other things involved in travel are going up.

According to axios.com,
‘Seattle’s unofficial start to summer begins Sunday, and AAA Washington tells Axios it’s expecting another busy season despite higher prices for airfare, hotels and other vacation expenses.’

For many of us, a summer day trip or a weekend excursion might involve traveling to Seattle. It turns out Seattle is the largest tourist attraction in Washington state and there is a lot to see.

Where to go?

The newly revamped Seattle waterfront, the slowly decaying Seattle Center, (it’s still fun) concerts at the Chateau Saint Michelle Winery, the Woodland Park Zoo and the Woodland Park Zoo concert series. To me, the Pike Place Market is always a marvel, there are all kinds of sporting events, Bumbershoot, the Museum of Pop Culture. There really is a lot to see in Seattle.

But it’s all going to cost more.

The price of everything is going up. Plane tickets, train tickets, bus tickets, the cost of lodging, the cost of food on your trip, and the cost of tickets for the events you want to see.

Just remember there’s other places close to home that you can travel to for a day trip or weekend vacation. The Bavarian Village of Leavenworth, Lake Chelan, Manson, the San Juan Islands are awesome in the summertime. If you like camping, any one of Washington State’s national parks will make a great trip.

Look at Oregon.

There are a lot of reasons to go south and check out what’s available to you in Oregon as well.

Traveling to Idaho for Silverwood with the family for a few days, always a great time.

Almost 69% of all people traveling this summer for vacations will be making multiple short trips this summer.

Enjoy it.
