15-Year-Old Guilty In Kamiakin HS Shooting Plot

A then 14-year-old student at Kamiakin High School in Kennewick who posted online about his plan to shoot up the school has been found guilty

  The Boy Was found Guilty on Multiple charges.

Mason Ashby was found guilty on Friday, January 29th, on the following charges, according to the Kennewick Police Department:

“Attempted First Degree Murder w/ Notice of Firearm Allegation and Enhancement, Threats to Bomb or Injure Property, and 11 counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the Second Degree, after a 4 day bench trial in juvenile court.”

September 20th of 2025, two youth in Florida notified Police about a post from Ashby on TikTok where he laid out his plan to shoot up the school.   He had broken into his grandparent’s gun safe, had multiple firearms, and had made a map of the plan.

He also had videos showing him breaking into the safe, and he had a second color-coded map with what he referred to as “peak students,”  and how he could shoot through windows.

He also had made videos of him walking around the school, and had written a manifesto intended to be found after his attack.

But his plans were thwarted by Law Enforcement agencies in Benton County before he could put it in motion.

He will be sentenced at a later date and because it was a juvenile trial, likely get 7 years and a potential release at 21.
