Celebrate Veterans Day with these events around the Mid-Columbia

KENNEWICK, Wash. – In honor of those who served the United States, communities across the Mid-Columbia are gathering with special events spanning Thursday, Nov. 10 and the holiday itself on Friday, Nov. 10.

FRANKLIN STEM ELEMENTARY HOSTS V-DAY PROGRAM

  • Where: Rosalind Franklin STEM Elementary School — Rd 52, Pasco, WA 99301
  • When: Thursday, Nov. 10 at 2:00 p.m.
  • Who: Combat Engineer & Bridge Crew member Mercedes Phillips
  • What: Student performances, conversation with school community, poetry reading and more

“Veterans have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. They are the true heroes of our country and it’s important to me that they are honored,” said Andreanna Flores, Choir and Band Teacher at Franklin STEM Elementary.  

WALLA WALLA HIGH SCHOOL (WA-HI) PLANS V-DAY ASSEMBLY 

  • Where: Walla Walla High School — 800 Abbott Rd, Walla Walla, WA 99362
  • When: Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10:26 a.m.
  • Who: Veterans and guests, students & faculty
  • What: Ceremony honoring veterans for their service in the U.S. Armed Forces

“This event is free and open to veterans, their families, survivors, friends of veterans, and the general public. All are welcome to attend. Please share this with every veteran you know in our community,”cadet Lt. Col. Kaden Kerr said.

MCKINLEY ELEMENTARY IN YAKIMA HOLDS VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY 

  • Where: McKinley Elementary School — 621 S 13th Ave, Yakima, WA 98902
  • When: Thursday, Nov. 10 at 8:50 a.m.
  • Who: Veterans, community members, students and McKinley’s principal, assistant principal and music teacher
  • What: Students put on a concert and performances to honor veterans

U.S. FOREST SERVICE

  • All parks and natural lands in the U.S.D.A. Forest Service network will be accessible for free on Friday, November 11, 2022

CITY OF PASCO VETERANS DAY EVENT 

  • Where: City View Cemetery — 1300 N. Oregon Ave, Pasco, WA 99301
  • When: Friday, Nov. 11 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Who: Veterans, community members, keynote speaker Arthur Broady
  • What: Veterans will be honored for their hard work and a toy drive will be held
