KENNEWICK, Wash. – A family of four is safe after a house fire early Sunday morning in Kennewick.

Authorities said a 911 hang-up call led dispatchers to call back and learned the person’s home was on fire.

It happened on the 2300 block of West 1st Avenue around 1:30 a.m.

Fire crews from the Kennewick Fire Department, Richland Fire & Emergency Services and Benton County Fire District 1 responded to the address, with KFD getting there within four minutes of the call.

A police officer with the Kennewick Police Department was at the scene and helped the family of four who were inside the home get out safely.

Firefighters said they could see flames coming from the roof of the home that were near a garage window and a bedroom window in the attic space. The KPD officer told firefighters what they had seen in the home and help fire crews find the nearest hydrant.

According to a press release by the Kennewick Fire Department, it took about 20 minutes to put out the flames.

The family of four will be temporarily out of their home due to the damage.

No one was hurt and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
