Franklin County Commissioner announces resignation

Posted on by admin

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. – In a press release on Wednesday, Franklin County Commissioner Brad Peck announced that he is resigning effective Jan. 1, 2024.

Peck released this statement in his press release:

“It has been my privilege to serve as a Franklin County Commissioner for the last 15 years. Throughout those years, I have worked diligently to fully comprehend county issues and propose realistic solutions for our citizens, without regard to personalities or politics. That effort has become increasingly difficult in recent years and months. The county has devolved into an arena of hyper-polarization, cronyism, workplace bullying and personal acrimony.”

“I have contemplated this decision for several months and believe the end of this year is an appropriate time to seek other opportunities to serve my community in healthier work environs. Moreover, it provides ample notice to individuals considering filing to run for this position in May. Therefore, I am resigning my position as a Franklin County Commissioner effective midnight January 1, 2024. The power to identify and correct Franklin County’s governance issues ultimately rests with the voters. I hope they act decisively,”

The Franklin County Republican Party Precinct will now select three candidates for the Franklin County Commissioners to choose from. If the Commissioners cannot decide after 90 days, the decision goes to the Governor.

The person selected must run in the 2024 election and live in District 1.
